Traditional Christmas Decor with a Modern Touch

Every year I’m more and more excited to share my traditional Christmas decor ideas as I have been growing my collection of decor and refining a traditional yet modern look. First up in the living room, my budget friendly Walmart tree continues to shine! This tree is the best option if you are on a tight budget. The tree isn’t too full so I make sure to use ribbon and large ornaments strategically around the tree to give it a fuller appearance. What truly gave my tree a step up this year was upgrading to this affordable basket look tree collar.

Traditional Christmas Mantel Ideas

No mantel? No problem! This year I used the large window sill in my living room as my mantel and secured the stockings with command strips. They all stayed on without a problem. I later got 2 real stocking holders to try them out as you can see below and they both worked great.

Traditional Christmas Decor for the Entryway

Next, entryways are usually places where people like to make a statement. Here I mixed 2 decor ideas by going for both a village and a woodland look with simple wood houses and a variety of trees from the target dollar spot on the lower level the entry table . Some standout pieces that elevate this look are the sparkly target trees target had a couple years ago. However, I will confess they shed glitter like crazy.

Shelf Ideas

My shelves are awkward because I only have 1 shelf on each side of a mirror which means I have to use taller decor so that it uses up enough of the wall space. I opted for a vase with faux greenery and some tall bottle brush trees which helped bring the height that I needed in the space but were also not too wide for the shelf space.

A Simple Touch

Lastly, we all have those spaces that are high traffic zones where seasonal decor isn’t really practical. For our home, that is our main bathroom. This is the most used bathroom and the sink has very little space. In this situation I swapped out out usual scent spray for this classy Hearth and Hand holiday spray and added a small tree from the target dollar spot. This simple touch brought me joy but didn’t get in the way. Are you staying traditional this year or trying out something new for your holiday decor?
